Do you remember the old TV game show “Let’s Make Deal?” The contestants on the show would dress up in fun costumes and compete for prizes. But the catch was that they had to pick one of three doors. One door revealed a fabulous prize, another a mediocre prize and the other door was usually a dud. Oh how disappointed the contestants were when they made the wrong choice.
In one of the
Indiana Jones movies, Harrison Ford was presented with a choice. He had to choose wisely. If he chose wrong, he would not be
successful. But if he chose correctly
the reward was great.
Recently our
youngest daughter found out she has cancer.
She didn’t choose it and she certainly doesn’t want it. Finding herself in this situation is difficult
with a young husband and two small children.
Her life has been significantly interrupted. It really makes all of us stop and think
about how we spend our time. We know
that God gives life and through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the Cross, we
can have life to its fullest. Every day
is a gift and we should cherish it and be careful how we use it.
Often times I
find myself wasting time and not being a good steward of the time that God
gives me. I go through the day and
before I realize it time has slipped away from me. I didn’t accomplish what I wanted to or
should have done.
The bible says
in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 “there is a
time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.” God has a plan and work for us to do at His
appointed time. We need to put feet to
action and get out there and make a difference.
We must choose wisely and make the best use of our time. We never know when our life will be
interrupted. We can settle for a
mediocre life or we can choose to take hold of the abundant life that God
offers us.
